What does it take to be a vet?
In the future, I was interested in being a vet. This is difficult to decide on because I am not comfortable with dogs for some reason. I would love to just specialize in cats. Isn't there any way I can just specialize in cats. I know a place by my house called Cat Clinic. So I'm sure I could probably do cats and small furry animals. What would it take for me to do this? Anyone know how many more years of school to specialize. And if I would still have to treat all animals in the begining.

Cat names!?
I'm stuck with three cat names; Jinx, Prince, and Zorro. They are all pretty much oxy-morons but they're cute all the same! The cat is a gray/white, sweet, adorable, blue-eyed cat and he is the cutest thing you have ever seen!! He was found on the doorstep of a cat clinic and they put him up for adoption for free and we took him! Hopefully that's a good enough description of him and please help me with a name!!

My Cat's being sick?
My beautiful cat is 17 years old and is generally very healthy and active. I only ever take her to the vets 2 x per year to the geriatric cat clinic and always gets a clean bill of health. She's pretty much an indoor cat but occasionally ventures out to the back yard of our flat. She woke me up this morning being sick ( a mixture of bile and felix cat food) and has been sick 3 times since. I've left out some boiled chicken and water for her and thought I'd leave it a day before heading to the vet as normally if she's got a dodgy tummy it clears quite quickly but she hasn't ever been soo sick. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your speedy replies. She normally eats felix and with hairballs she doesn't usually sick up food. She's since eaten some chicken and we'll see if she brings that up. It's horrible seeing her ill, she is normally very vibrant. I'll see how she is and if there's no improvement I'll take her to the vets tomorrow.

Does anyone know of a low-cost vet in the Pittsburgh area?
My cat has scratched herself in one spot by her neck so much that it is bleeding and I need to take her to the vet. Problem is, I don't have the money that most vets charge. I called the Cat Clinic and they want $70 just to look at her. Not to mention whatever they will charge me after they find out what's wrong with her.
