Cat Diet
Two Unusual Rare Cat Breeds
There are many types of cats, you have your exotic cats, you have your domestic tabby cats and then you have your more unusual rare cat breeds. If you are looking for a rare cat breed then you have a few options that your can choose from. Here we will discuss the Sphinx and the British Shorthair, both rare and both very beautiful cats.
Sphinx
The Sphinx is a rare cat breed that you might want to think about and one of the most unforgettable since they are hairless. In fact the Sphinx is not always completely hairless there can be a fine down on the body, similar to that on a newborn baby.
One of the features that make them so extraordinary is the surface of the Sphinx skin. It has been compared to a suede-covered hot water bottle of heated chamois. These are impressive cats which are medium sized and strong. They characteristically have strong boning and superior muscle development and the adult cats tend to be bigger than the female cats.
As well, this rare cat breed requires a particular Cat Diet, so you are required to make sure that you are feeding them the correct foods if you want them to be healthy and do their best.
British Shorthair
The British Shorthair is another rare cat breed that you may be fascinated in. These are considered as being the oldest English breed of cat, one which was first appreciated for its physical strength and hunting capability.
Soon they became known for other reputable characteristics, and they are recognized as being a comparatively rare cat in the United States and other areas of the world.
These cats continue to get more and more popular and because of their easygoing nature and intelligence, they are one of the most well loved breeds of cat.
Here are just two types of breed which would make incredible pets and are considered as being rare. Whether you are just interested in the look of these types of cats or just want a cat that is going to make for a fascinating conversation, going with one of these rare cat breeds is a fantastic idea.
Just make certain that you are equipped for the cat prior to bringing it home. You are going to need to have toys for it to play with, healthy food for it to eat, and a trainer if you want the cat to be well behaved.

Help and advice regarding changing my cats diet?
I have a cat who is 1 years old in two weeks, and i have been trying to change his diet from a kitten diet to an adult food diet rather unsuccesfully.
My kitten has always been a fan of Whiskers kitten meat in gravy pouches which i mix with whiskers dry mix when i feed him. He has always ate the food without complaining his whole life so far but now im having a real headache changing his diet to that of an adult cat.
I bought the whiskers adult meat in gravy cat food and there staright forward dry mix food for adult cats as i wanted to try and keep the diet as much as the same for the cat in terms of taste, however my cat will not entertain the idea of the adult food one bit. I did manage to trick him for the first weeks by mixing the adult food and kitten food together when i first changed his diet so i did not upset his stomach, and he was eating it fine however when i stopped mixing the food and give him the adult food alone he wont eat it at all.
Ive now gone back to the kitten food diet, but i really do not want to continue with this as im worried feeding an adult cat kitten food (which contains more fat etc) will affect his health later down the line.
Has anyone got any tips as to how to succsefully change the diet of my cat? As im stuck!
Thank you
Thanks for all your helpful answers. I have heard that Whiskers is not very good for cats however (and believe me i have tried) my kitten has been fed everything from Iams and Purina to imported kitten food from America which i bought while in New York and he still crys for Whiskers, so i am wanting to keep him on that. His teeth also are fine he last had them checked a month ago by my vet when he went for a check up and my vet was happy with his size and weight etc, i am fussy when it comes to teeth anyway and i like to keep a close eye on my cats teeth especially. I will try what you recommend (basically tough love) and hopefully he will eventually take to it (by reading your answers i do think he has me twisted round his little paw though)
Thanks again

Question about a proper cat diet?
Just wandering, what would be the proper amount of food for quite a large domestic cat? I don't mean a fat cat, I just mean a big one. Should I weigh food out, if so how much? Hope that makes sense. I am just a little concerned that I am over feeding them.
Also, can anyone recommend some good ways of stimulating a cat using their food and toys? Other than hiding food and letting them hunt for it.

I got my cats diet figured out, now what should I do for my dogs?
Please Read All of this before answering :) Thanks!
I decided to feed my cats Taste of the Wild Rocky Mtn Feline dry food and I also give them canned food as well.
I have to find a decent quality dog food for my dogs now. I have 3 dogs and they are X Large, Large and Medium sized so they eat quite a bit.
I need to find a decent food that is at least 35lbs but doesn't cost more than $25 or so because I will have to buy 2 bags a month. I looked at Taste of the Wild for dogs, but I can't afford that brand for the dogs. Their cat food is better priced. I was thinking about the 4Health brand which is about $25 for 35lbs i think and it's ingredients are decent, not great, but not as bad as Pedigree which is what they were eating. Right now they're eating Royal Canin which was donated to us.
Any recommendations for a family with 3 dogs on a budget?
I don't have a Costco around me. i shop at Tractor Supply or a feed store. Possibly could go to PetSmart

Why does my cat go in the litter box in protest?
We recently changed our cats diet and now after we open up the can and present it to him he turns away and goes straight into the litter box and rolls around! He never did this before, and is usually a really clean cat. He even ends up eating the food after we leave the room. Is it possible that he is protesting his diet change? Has anyone seen this behavior before? He has to eat specially prescribed food so I can't switch back to his old food.

Is it okay to feed my cat mostly only tuna, vitamins + veggies and milk?
My cat needs a hypoallergenic diet, as she's allergic to chicken.
Hypoallergenic foods are expensive though, and I don't feel like I can afford to feed her it constantly. Perhaps the dry kind I could afford, but dry food lacks a lot of nutrition and I'm trying to stay away from it. And even with expensive brands, they still come with some cheap fillers.
So, I was wondering how appropriate would it be if I fed my cat without commercial cat foods, on things like tuna mixed in with vitamins and a small amount of vegetables (spinach, pumpkin, etc). As well as giving her milk fairly often, and turkey occasionally.
I've read up fairly well on cat diets, so I know what cats should & shouldn't get. But I'm still worried how much of a balanced diet she would get without commercial cat food. For instance, I know that adding vitamins is not recommended, but most commercial cat foods seem to do this anyway (just like processed people foods). Also, my biggest concern is things like calcium /phosphorous balance, which I imagine I could add to her food if I'm careful about the amounts.
Does anyone with cat knowledge have advice for me?
Thank you so much for you
