Will a bug zapper kill my cats fleas in the house?
After removing fleas on my cat, I need to actually remove fleas from the house. Yes, I will be hoovering and spraying like mad, but there will still be fleas afterwards and I don't want to take any chances. If I were to put a bug zapper in a room at night, it should theoretically kill all the fleas near it, right? I mean, yesterday I lit a candle and before I knew it fleas were all around it. I've heard they're attracted to heat, and bug zappers do get quite hot.

cat fleas appearing on an indoor cat?
I'm beside myself! This morning I discovered that my beautiful cat has some fleas - after ruthless combing with a flea comb I have found three - not a lot I know but it has really upset me. I can't understand how he got them because he is an indoor cat - deaf so I dare not allow him out. However I do take him outside the house most days in his carrier so he can travel to a play date with his brother who is also an indoor cat. I galloped out this afternoon for some Frontline which I have used regularly on previous cats who never had lodgers so I'm hoping that, combined with my combing will have resolved the problem. Does anyone know if it is possible that he picked them up en route from front door to car in his canvas carrier? I have occasionally placed the carrier on the ground whilst unlocking the car and we do have a great many other cats in our vicinity so i am wondering if one of them dropped a couple of the little blighters which found their way onto him? I brush him daily and he is bathed once a month mainly because he is pure white and picks up dirt like nobodys business. I feel like such a neglectful Mum! Thanks for your answers. I doubt it is from his bro who lives with my mother who is even more particular than I am. He doesn't go outside either. I just could not fathom how he got any. I am going to do a big wash tomorrow of his bedding etc - I always put a flea collar in the hoover bag incidentally, which I heard helps keep down the little offenders. I just hate the thought of him having any at all. It is interesting what Holly says about carrying them in from a stray. Just lately I have had a waif knocking at my door and I have been giving him bits of food. He is very friendly - I'm not certain that he is actually a stray as he seems very plump for a cat that should be living on his wits - and I have patted him a few times so maybe I gave my boy lodgers. Ugh, what a thought. Still, we seem to have beaten them for now. Poor little mite he's getting quite twitchy as I keen picking through his coat in search of them. Hopefully we have resolved the problem by acting quickly. I've been a cat owner for about thirty years so unfortunately have had the odd brush with fleas but I never believed a house kept cat was in any danger of them. Just goes to show...
