LICKING RIVER CATS ! Last week my brother and I were fishingfor skipjacks at a dock on the Licking River. Two guys came inwith their boats. The first guy had fished up river at Banklickcreek. He said he caught 7 channel cats. They were in the 3-5pound range. He caught them all on chicken livers. He releasedall of them to fight for another day. The second guy pulled injust as the first one was pulling his boat up the ramp. This oletimer had a small 10 foot a John boat and 31/2hp motor. He wasishing down river nearer to Cincinnati. He also claimed to haveboated 7 channel catfish. He only used frozen Shad as bait. Thefish were the same size range as the other guy's. He wasinterested in what we were fishing for. We showed him the rigswe were using and how we cast the rig and retrieved it. Hewanted to know where he could get the rig we were using. Aftermy brother helped him load the boat in the back end of hispickup truck he left.

The next morning my brother and I returned to get moreskipjacks, however they cleared out. I had brought my castingnet just in case. I was getting about a dozen shad with eachcast. Then we saw the ole timer pull up with his boat & truck.We helped him unload it. Told him I had plenty of Shad if hewanted some for bait. He was happy with our offer; he got enoughfor his trip. He then headed back down river to his favoritespots.

By this time my brother had given up catching anymore bait. Hewent off to use the fish for getting some catfish from the banknear by. I use my casting net to get more Shad for my futurefishing trips. Just before I left, I checked with my brother ashe was getting a good bite. He hooked a channel cat about 3pounds. Since the Licking had been so muddy from the hard rainsearlier in the week it was surprising the fish were biting sowell. I called my brother that evening to find out how he didafter I left. He caught 2 more cats one small one and anotherabout 3 pound. The big news was when the ole timer came back tothe dock, he told my brother he had a great day. He said he boat26 catfish in about 5-6 hours of fishing. I have never comeclose to catching that many catfish on the rivers aroundCincinnati. I will be checking out the Licking in the remainingweeks of this season to see if I can come close to that kind ofaction. Tight lines to all.

In home country I have cat to help me lick dishes, why no dish licking cat in America? Why I must lick alone?
In Elbonia we have modern advancement, dish licking cats, cut's washing time in half. Why don't stupid americans have such thing? You all wash dishes with hand and feet? No cat? Someday America catch up with great republic of Elbonia.

Can cats get very sick by licking cat litter off their fur?
We tried Purina 'tidy cats' litter. it is very very fine and gritty. Our cat has very long fur. He is now not eating or drinking anything and is very sick but vet can't find anything wrong. Only two weeks ago she said he was really healthy. Could he have licked this litter off his fur and now have a stomach full of it? if so, what can we do? Has anyone had a similar experience? Please help.

Sensitive cat has been attacted by fleas- looking for serious cat know-it-alls!?
She has been icthy and irritated (by stress) since the new doggie came this past year. She has worked herself up to get sick since Ive had her 7 years- caused herself to get tonsilitis. However I believe that fleas were the worst this year and were not stopped by monthly flea drops. However now it seems the cold weather has drove the pesty fleas away. My cat already has very sensitive skin... and has been itching these bites and they wont heal. What can I do at home to help her. I can not afford a vet at this time- looking for a home remedy to treat her dry and torn skin. my concern is she is unconfortable and re-tearing at her skin...and continuously licking. Cats mouths are filthy and I am afraid she may infect her wounds
